Meet the Finalist: Graciel - Rebirth

Some fashion pieces are created simply to be worn. Others are created to tell a story. For Graciel, that story is one of transformation, renewal and the possibility of becoming something new after moments of struggle.

As a finalist in Nurture, Graciel presents Rebirth, a concept built around the meeting of contrasting forces. The design draws inspiration from the relationship between fire and water, using their opposing qualities to explore destruction, cleansing, renewal and the emergence of something new.

There is a strong sense of movement within the concept, with flowing imagery meeting a more dramatic sculptural structure. Together, these elements create a visual tension that reflects the central idea behind the piece: destruction does not necessarily represent an ending, but can become part of the process of transformation.

The human form sits at the heart of the narrative, suggesting resilience rather than defeat. Organic imagery, symbolism and elements of upcycled materials further push the design beyond conventional clothing, allowing the garment to function as a visual narrative as much as a fashion piece.

Yet there is still much that Graciel is leaving to the imagination. The complete silhouette, textures and symbolic details will have to be experienced when the design makes its appearance at the competition. Rather than revealing every layer of Rebirth, the concept offers a glimpse into an artistic interpretation that suggests considerably more waiting beneath the surface.

The moment will arrive at The Big Four Experience on August 29, 2026, where the red carpet begins at 1:00 p.m. ahead of the main event at 2:00 p.m. With Nurture bringing together designers interpreting fashion as art in distinctly different ways, Graciel's vision adds another perspective to the creative conversation.

Rebirth begins with destruction, passes through transformation and points toward becoming. The rest of that transformation belongs to the stage.
